Multnomah Friends is a very active Meeting, with events throughout the week and many ways to get involved.  Below are some current events and news about the life of the Meeting. We also publish a weekly bulletin highlighting upcoming programs and announcements, and a monthly newsletter with articles of interest to our community.  Sign up with your email address below.

Worship Sharing with Movement

Saturday, April 4, 10:00-11:30am in the Meeting Room
Note: This is a change in date
Every first Saturday, from 10 to 11:30 at the Meetinghouse, we invite you to explore using movement as part of your spiritual practice. In Worship Sharing with Movement, we will share the experience of pausing, grounding and listening, with curiosity and care, moving as we are led. We will move in solitude, in dyads, and in community. We will open and close with movement to a song. Please feel free to join us even if this is a very new direction for you. If you have questions, you’re welcome to talk with one of us. Betsey Kenworthy, Lynn Kitajima, Ann Marie Marriott, Kepper Petzing, and Art Okada. We have changed from 4th Saturdays to 1st Saturdays from April forward.

Palestinian Products on Sale Sunday Mornings

A group of Friends at Multnomah Meeting, led by Ralph Gilliam, will be selling imported Palestinian goods at the Meetinghouse after the 10 am worship on Sundays. The products are purchased from Palestine Imports, https://palestineimports.com/, a company based in San Francisco, owned by Ateyeh M. Ateyeh. Mr. Ateyeh is Palestinian, born in Jerusalem. He attended the Ramallah Friends School and has an affinity for Friends. Mr. Ateyeh is a staunch advocate for Palestinian human rights. We are able to buy products from Palestine Imports at a wholesale price because we have made a commitment to donate all profits from the sales of these products to the American Friends Service Committee’s Gaza Relief Fund. If there is enough interest, we can expand the products we sell. Please support these efforts to raise funds for Gaza relief.

Spring Cleaning Work Party

Saturday, April 11, 9am-noon

Come when you can, between 9 a.m. and 12 noon,  to help with Spring Cleaning of the Multnomah Meetinghouse. Meet Harriet, Property Committee Clerk, in the Social Hall when you arrive to pick up cleaning supplies and choose an area you would like to work on. If you have a specific cleaning project you would like to work on, let Harriet know at  property.clerk@multnomahfriends.org.

Peace and Justice Committee

Sunday, March 22, noon, Meeting Room, Blended
Join the Peace & Justice Committee Sunday, March 22, for our monthly noon meeting in the Worship room. The first 45 minutes of the meeting will devoted to discerning our priorities for Friends Committee on National Legislation. Please email any agenda requests to peace-justice.clerk@multnomahfriends.org. If you need childcare to attend, you will be reimbursed for the expense.

Friendly Readers Multnomah Meeting Book Group

Tuesday, March 17, noon-2:00pm, Room 12
Friendly Readers is an open, drop-in book group, discussing books from a Quaker perspective and getting to know each other more deeply. Everyone is invited. You do not have to commit to regular attendance, or to have read the book. Our discussions are about the topics raised.
